Mauricio Gastón Institute for Latino Community Development & Public Policy

The Gastón Institute is a premier resource for research, education, and public information about Latinos in Massachusetts. Our mission is to inform policymakers about issues vital to the state’s growing Latino community, provide information and analysis necessary for effective Latino participation in public policy development and to advance higher education and leadership development opportunities for Latino youth and young adults. Through our research, we provide in-depth context to the socio-economic inequities experienced by our state’s highly diverse Latino population. Our culturally inclusive educational programs provide predominantly low-income Latino middle and high school students and English Language Learners and undergraduates with the academic and leadership skills to access and succeed in higher education. In helping them attain their college education, we seek to address the underrepresentation of Latinos in public and private-sector leadership roles.
