Teachers of color who share the same backgrounds as their students serve as mirrors by reflecting the same culture and affirming their identity. Across Massachusetts, Latinos account for 21% of the student population yet only 4% of teachers in the Commonwealth identify as Latino. Now, more than ever, we must cultivate a teacher workforce that better reflects the growing Latinx student population and offers stronger retention support for Latinx teachers.
You’re invited to join us for a dialogue about the representation of Latinx educators in Massachusetts. At this event, we will share results from a state-wide survey of Latinx educators and key recommendations from a new report focused on attracting and retaining Latinx teachers in the Commonwealth.
We are hosting two forums in an effort to ensure teachers, school leaders, district leaders and community members have an opportunity to engage in this critical conversation. In your RSVP, please choose one date and location you plan to attend. Space is limited.
This event is co-hosted by Latinos for Education, Amplify Latinx and the Massachusetts chapter of the Association of Latino Administrators and Superintendents.
